Mindful March is a month-long event throughout The City of Maribyrnong and surrounding suburbs. We Started with our event launch on March 1st at Footscray Library. There is something for the whole family. Almost 100 people came though out the afternoon. A Big Thank You to Lisa from Bindu Creative Dance and Yoga and Razz Mussen for your beautiful, calming and in the case of Razz energizing contributions.
All sessions and activities, support families and community members to learn about mindfulness and other tools that enhance their sense of well being, connection to the people in their lives and thus celebrating the gift of being present together.
There are many ways to experience the present moment fully. Local businesses, libraries and community centres have been offering FREE classes and workshops. Although, approaches may differ the intention is the same to take a more mindful approach to their life, bodies, choices and relationships.
We the Mindful March Community acknowledge that this event is taking place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation. We pay our respects to our elders past, present and the elders of our collective future.
It is the intention that all Mindful March Events take place in spaces where community members feel safe, respected, and comfortable in being themselves and expressing all aspects of their identities. All events are open to community members from all walks of life, the LGBTQ community and cultural backgrounds. In the case where there are gender specific workshops, such as women’s circles, all people who identify as woman are welcome. All family events will have quiet spaces and/or activities for children who find new spaces challenging and/or overwhelming. All spaces will indicate whether there is wheel chair access.
Community members, families, teachers and educators will be invited to join a special program online. Teachers will receive a weekly planner to support them in incorporating simple mindful moments into their teaching. Families and community members will be invited to play along with the same program receiving daily emails to support them in cultivating a home practice for themselves and/or their children.
